In end of 1995, the brand introduced Arturo Fuente Opus X, which is considered its flagship cigar. The whole cigar is made of tobaccos grown in the Dominican Republic, with a Rosado wrapper that is grown on the farm of Fuente family. The Opus X is available in a variety of blends, and certain ones are quite rare and difficult to obtain.
Arturo Fuente Opus X
The Arturo Fuente Opus X Cigars have quite a hefty price tag, but still the demand for these cigars always seems to outstrip supply. These cigars are considered to be of the most renowned non-Cuban premium cigars. The Dominican Rosado wrapper of the Arturo Fuente Opus X Belicoso XXX for example has a beautiful sheen and no seams are visible. The unlit cigar exudes a floral and fruity aroma, and pre-light draw has pleasant nuances of sweetness.
For such a premium cigar, the burn is a bit uneven and the ash too does not hold for long. As for the flavors, the cigar is not for the newbie, as you can expect a strong nicotine buzz. As soon as you light up, there is overpowering spice flavor of intense red pepper. After smoking the first third of the cigar, the spice lets up a bit and there are nuances of honey, vanilla, and roasted nuts. As the cigar progresses, earth, and wood remain the predominant flavors, with a strong hint of saltiness. The spice and saltiness remains as a strong background throughout the smoke, and there are occasional nuances of vanilla, nuts, and coffee. The last part of the cigar has a distinct honey-like sweetness that leaves a pleasant residue in the mouth.
