Buena Vista has been one of the ultra premium cigar manufacturers that have been supplying the US market with about 400,000 handmade cigars every year. The company is relatively new, as it has opened its doors only in 2011, but it has captured quite a portion of the market with boutique cigars. The company has introduced new cigars every year, and is known for its limited editions as well.
Spicy and Flavorsome
Buena Vista cigars use an Ecuadorian wrapper with Sumatra seed binder and tobaccos from Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Peru, and Brazil. The Brazilian tobacco, Araperique is especially popular on Buena Vista cigars. It is made with a unique fermenting process, which is very slow and done under high pressure. This process gives Buena Vista cigars diverse aromas, flavors, and complexities. Most cigars begin with a mild strength that builds to a medium strong during the smoke with nuances of timber, cinnamon, fruit, and coffee.
Buena Vista Range
The main cigar range of the Buena Vista brand consists of three sizes -
-
Short Robusto - Measures 10 cm long with a ring gauge of 53
-
Robusto - Length of 12.5 cm with a ring gauge of 50
-
Toro - Measure 15 cm and has a ring gauge of 50
The short Robusto provides about half an hour of smoking pleasure, the Robusto will last for about 45 minutes, and the Toro lasts the longest providing about an hour to 75 minutes of smoke. The Buena Vista cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic, and have the addition of Araperique Brazilian tobacco as an insert, which gives them a nice spicy flavor. The fillers used in the cigars are tripa larga and the cigars are hand made (hecho a mano). The medium strength is quite evident in the middle, even though it has a mild start, and burn is quite even. Smokers can expect flavors and aromas of cinnamon, fruit, timber, and coffee.
Ediciones Limitadas
Buena Vista is known for some of its limited editions, and this Edicion Limitada cigar has a medium to full strength. The cigar is available in Torpedo, Toro, Robusto, Corona, and Churchill sizes, and is handmade in Ecuador. The reddish-brown wrapper is Ecuador Habano, which has minimal veins and is quite smooth. The long fillers are a rich blend of quality Ecuadorian tobaccos that combine beautifully with the wrapper.
This Buena Vista cigar has a razor sharp burn, which was quite expected with the solid construction. The smoker can expect creamy nuances of spice, nuts, and a slight sweetness with every puff. However, the most interesting part is how the cigar evolves starting with medium body and going on to the grand crescendo. Most smokers have found the Edicion Limitada to be extremely delicious, flavorful, and well-balanced.
Buena Vista has sought to create original Cuban profile using non-Cuban tobaccos with this cigar. The company uses original Cuban seeds and grows the tobacco in an Ecuadorian valley that replicates the exact conditions of Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. To complete the picture, the rolling of each Buena Vista cigar is supervised by Cuban torcedores who are specially flown out of Cuba on special visas.
