Cohiba Cigars: The Most Famous Cuban Longfillers
The brand Cohiba is one of the most prestigious and well-known Cuban longfillers worldwide. Since 1966, they have captivated aficionados around the globe with their unique aroma. Crafted from the finest Cuban tobacco leaves, which undergo a triple fermentation process, Cohiba cigars are available in numerous vitolas ("formats"). The classic Esplendidos, Robustos, and Lanceros are especially popular. Modern additions such as the Siglo VI or the Piramides Extra also enjoy great popularity.
All Cohiba cigars are hand-rolled by Cuba's finest torcedores at the renowned El Laguito factory. This factory has the privilege of selecting the first and best tobacco leaves of the harvest, ensuring the exclusive quality of Cohiba cigars.
A distinctive feature of Cohiba cigars is the third fermentation, applied exclusively to this brand. Additionally, the seco and ligero tobaccos mature for 18 months in cedarwood barrels, giving the cigars their unique character. Their flavor profile is characterized by a harmonious blend of grassy notes, roasted aromas, and fine hints of vanilla, cocoa, and coffee.
A Legend with History
The origins of Cohiba are legendary: According to tradition, in 1963, Fidel Castro tried a cigar from his bodyguard, which had been made by a friend, a torcedor. Castro was so impressed that he appointed the torcedor, Eduardo Rivera, as his personal cigar roller. Soon after, Cohibas were produced as exclusive gifts for Cuba's state guests.
All Cohiba Cigars at Hacico
The first Cohiba cigars were produced at the El Laguito factory under the name already used by the Taino Indians for their cigars. Initially, only a few formats were available, but today there is a wide variety of Cohiba cigars to suit every taste.
Cohiba Linea Clasica
Since its official introduction in 1982, the Linea Clasica has been a cornerstone of the Cohiba portfolio. It includes famous formats such as the Esplendido, Exquisito, and Robusto.
Cohiba Línea 1492
In 1992, the Línea 1492 was introduced, ranging from Siglo I to Siglo VI. Each of these cigars is also available in elegant tubos – a tribute to the discovery of Cuba.
Cohiba Behike
The Cohiba Behike series represents the pinnacle of the lineup. These cigars are produced in limited quantities, as they use only the rare “Corona” leaves, which come from the top of the tobacco plant.
