Planteray – Rum Born From a Love of Diversity
Rum is one of the most multifaceted spirits in existence. This realization came to Planteray founder Alexandre Gabriel. As the master distiller of the French company Cognac Ferrand, he sold some old cognac casks to overseas distilleries. This was where Alexandre's passion for the spirit of the New World was born. It was above all the seemingly endless diversity of rum that captivated him. He was fascinated by how every region and every island, influenced by factors such as soil, climate, or unique distillation methods, could produce a spirit with its own distinct character.
From this enthusiasm, the Planteray label was born—originally called Plantation. Beyond his newfound love for rum, Alexandre's expertise is what defines this brand. Care, patience, and of course, decades of experience in the world of spirits form the foundation of this unique drink.
Planteray as a Symbol of Tireless Pursuit
But quality alone, no matter how high, is not enough to continually present outstanding spirits. Planteray represents a tireless pursuit of diversity, a desire to capture the full essence of what makes rum special. This includes constant improvements and innovations for the future.
The rebranding to Planteray is more than just a label change—it is part of a broader strategic realignment. The new name phonetically echoes the words "Terra" or "Terroir," emphasizing the natural origins of rum. Along with this, Planteray is committed to sustainable agriculture and the goal of carbon-neutral production.
The Full Spectrum: All Rums from Planteray
Despite these exciting changes, one thing remains the same: everything else stays as it was. Alexandre remains at the helm, and Planteray continues its mission of producing diverse rums of the highest quality. While the spirits remain unchanged, the philosophy behind them has evolved significantly.
The variety of different origins remains unchanged. The Planteray selection naturally includes Jamaican rum, such as the spiced rum Canerock, as well as the Original Dark Barbados & Jamaica. Also available is Sealander, which originates in Barbados but also draws influences from unique regions such as Mauritius and Fiji. For those who want to experience this diversity firsthand, the sampler Experience Artisanal Rum is highly recommended.
