“Hösy,” as Tobias Höse is affectionately called, is a rising name in the German pipe-making scene. Like many of his peers, he found his way to this craft through pipe smoking. His enthusiasm for Virginia flakes and English blends still accompanies him today. He draws significant inspiration from renowned pipe makers like Dirk Heinemann and the creative minds at CO Pipes.
Inspiration Meets Craftsmanship: Bonsai Pipes
Hösy creates his handmade pipes with utmost precision in his home workshop. Despite working part-time, he has achieved an impressive level of craftsmanship. His passion for bonsai cultivation, a hobby he has pursued for years, is reflected in the name of his pipes – patience and attention to detail define both arts equally.
Outside of his work as a pipe maker, Hösy is a family man and a passionate (rock) musician. For his pipes, he uses premium briar from Calabria and occasionally olive wood. With his own sandblasting cabinet, he gives many surfaces, even those made of olive wood, an elegant texture. Sandblasted olive wood offers an incomparably pleasant tactile experience.
