Casa de Alegria Cigars – Straight from Estelí, Fairly Produced

From the heart of Estelí, the center of Nicaraguan tobacco culture, comes the young label Casa de Alegria. Their motto: Fair, Good, Direct – and it shows in every single one of their cigars. The two founders, Maritza Molina and Ralf Westerwick, found their way into tobacco production through unusual paths: She holds a degree in psychology, he is a geographer originally from Gummersbach in the Bergisches Land. Today, they are united not only by their passion for tobacco, but also by a clear vision for sustainable production – and a long-standing friendship with HACICO.de.

Characterful Enjoyment from Fair Production: Casa de Alegria Rico

Since their early beginnings in October 2004, the duo has made a name for themselves with great dedication in the field of Premium Longfillers. The name roughly translates to “House of Joy” – and that joy is reflected in every single cigar. The tobacco comes from renowned growing regions such as Jalapa, Condega, and Estelí. Nothing is rushed: all tobaccos are aged long enough to fully develop their aromas before being crafted into fine Casa de Alegria cigars.

Fairness & Quality: The Philosophy of Casa de Alegria

What sets Casa de Alegria apart goes far beyond flavor. Fair working conditions are no empty promise here: employees receive above-average wages and benefits that go far beyond legal requirements. And partner companies – especially the tobacco farmers – also benefit from fair prices. This creates a cycle where quality, respect, and sustainability go hand in hand. No wonder the project is becoming increasingly popular within our community.

The Edicion Limitada Rico stands out with a medium-bodied profile, earthy notes, and subtle roasted aromas – perfect for experienced aficionados. All tobaccos in this line are fermented for over twelve months. Those who prefer a milder experience should try the Edicion Limitada Suave. It offers creamy flavors and features a high-quality Connecticut wrapper. With a lower proportion of Ligero and Viso, it’s the ideal introduction for connoisseurs who prefer a gentler smoke.

Pipe enthusiasts will also find something to enjoy at Casa de Alegria: instead of using leftovers for shortfillers, binder and wrapper leaves are removed, the filler is shredded – and reimagined as spicy cigar tobacco for the pipe. An exciting wild cut with true longfiller quality – definitely worth a try!
