Cesare Barontini: Pipes from Italy
If you want to learn more about the traditional Italian pipe manufacturer Cesare Barontini, you’ll find that reliable information is scarce. Contact is exclusively managed through the German importer, Hauser in Augsburg. Neither an email address nor a website for the manufacturer can be found. Even in Italian pipe-smoking forums, there are only speculations about the company’s status, which remain unverified. Communication with end customers seems limited even in its home country, and well-known online pipe lexicons provide only sparse information.
Pipes by Cesare Barontini: Craftsmanship Under Its Own Name
What is certain, however, is that Barontini has been producing thousands of pipes for renowned brands for decades. Since 2011, Stanwell has been among its clients. Vauen also had pipes produced by Barontini for a time but has since discontinued this collaboration.

Pipes marketed under the Cesare Barontini name now play a relatively minor role. Nevertheless, they impress with solid quality and classic designs.
Barontini Pipes: A Look at the History
According to the German importer, the company’s history includes the following milestones:
- In 1890, Turildo Barontini founded a briar mill to produce ebauchons for the pipe industry.
- In 1925, Bruno Barontini initiated the production of finished pipes.
- Production was halted for about seven years during World War II.
- In 1946, Bruno and Illico Barontini resumed operations at the factory.
- From 1955, the company reinvested in the production of raw materials and pre-made pipes.
To this day, production is said to take place in Livorno, and the company is still family-run by the Barontini family. Unfortunately, no further details are available.
