Chinchalero: British Spirit Meets Cigar Passion
John Atherton – a true Brit with a good dose of humor – offers more than just dry wit. After many years at General Cigars International, he knew exactly what makes a really good cigar. In 2011, he took the leap into self-employment and founded the label Chinchalero in Nicaragua – a brand that has since stood for character and approachability.
Tobacco Variety from Honduras and Nicaragua
Chinchalero stands for honest cigars at reasonable prices. The tobacco used comes mainly from Honduras and Nicaragua. Those familiar with the older Reserva de Oro series with its striking red band will surely remember the spicy character of this line.
The versions with the light blue band are milder in flavor – yet the Nicaraguan origin shines through in every cigar.
Torcidos & Mezcla 40: Two Wrappers, Many Flavors
With the Torcidos, Chinchalero brings fresh flair to the humidor – both in appearance and taste. These “striped” cigars use two different wrappers: a light Connecticut and a dark Maduro. This mix creates contrast not only on paper but also throughout the smoking experience – medium-bodied with a distinctive character.
The Mezcla 40 – “mezcla” means blend – surprises with a sweet start, a fine chili heat, and pronounced spice. Its bright wrapper from Ecuador adds a visual lightness to the mix.
