Hacico Cigars: A Difficult Start in the Industry
Starting without much prior knowledge of the cigar world – this best describes the origins of Hacico. Founder Philipp Kugler initially had no connection to cigars but came from a completely different professional background. As part of his studies in communication design, he created branding for what was then a fictional cigar brand. However, what started as a creative university project quickly turned into a deep passion for cigars and their production.
Philipp Kugler: The Mind Behind Hacico
From idea to execution: Since 2016, Hacico has been present in the market as a company. The journey was by no means easy – numerous visits to specialty retailers and events were necessary to establish a name. Kugler achieved a breakthrough when he sold his first 800 cigars of the now discontinued Schöne Robusto series within a single day at a specialty store in Munich. This experience encouraged him to pursue cigar manufacturing professionally.
Today, Hacico is well established in the cigar scene and garners attention with exciting new releases. All cigars are crafted in a small, family-run factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The exact identity of the factory remains a secret to preserve the exclusivity of the brand.
Sustainable Responsibility
Sustainability is an important concern for Philipp. Although the tobacco is not sourced from Bavaria, the packaging is obtained locally. Hacico focuses on sustainable materials and exclusively uses wood from Bavarian forests for its cigar boxes.
Hacico Cigars: A Selection for Every Taste
Hacico's portfolio offers a wide range of cigars to suit various preferences. From the classic Sun Grown to the intense Maduros, the limited Editions, or the diverse Samplers – Hacico offers something for every taste. Notably, the brand uses "H2000" tobacco from Nicaragua and high-quality Ecuadorian wrappers.
Hacico cigars are characterized by their unique aroma. The Sun Grown and Maduro series deliberately avoid ligero tobacco to provide a well-balanced smoking experience.
The Entubado Rolling Technique
A highlight is the Cuban rolling technique “Entubado,” which is used in Hacico cigars. This method creates eight smoke channels, ensuring an even burn and optimal flavor development.
