Don Julio Cigars – Tradition Spanning Six Generations
The Reyes family has been deeply rooted in tobacco cultivation for generations. However, it was Augusto Reyes who made the decision to start producing cigars as well. Today, his daughter Nirka runs Tabacalera de los Reyes, where not only Don Julio but also Patoro and Debonaire are crafted.
From Banker to Cigar Manufacturer: Nirka Reyes
Nirka Reyes took a different path than her father. Although she grew up as the sixth generation of the tobacco dynasty, her journey initially led her to Europe. After completing her studies in Switzerland, she worked at an investment bank, but the financial sector did not fulfill her.

Looking back, the fast-paced financial sector seemed soulless to her, but it provided her with valuable business structures. Instead of focusing solely on profit, she followed her passion for cigars. The production at Tabacalera de los Reyes was drastically reduced—from 13 million to 2.5 million cigars per year.
Low-cost series for private labels were removed from the portfolio. Instead, Nirka Reyes transformed her Tabacalera into a manufactory for exclusive Longfiller cigars. This initially resulted in financial losses, but in the long run, her strategy paid off.
Punta Espada Cigars by Don Julio
Compared to other Dominican cigars, the creations from Tabacalera de los Reyes are stronger and impress with intense spice and a multi-layered texture. They are crafted at the highest level of craftsmanship.

The Don Julio Punta Espada series exclusively uses tobaccos from the family's own fields. They come from the fertile Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic and guarantee an exceptional smoking experience.
