Dos Maderas translates to “two woods” – a reference to this rum’s unique aging process. Its complex flavor develops through maturation in two different types of casks.
Dos Maderas Rum: From the Caribbean to Andalusia
This rum originates in the Caribbean, more precisely on Barbados or in Guyana, where it begins its first stage of aging. From there, it travels to Spain: At the Bodega Williams & Humbert in Jerez de la Frontera, it undergoes a second maturation and refinement.
This traditional bodega has been around since the late 19th century and is renowned for its brandy and sherry. In recent years, gin and select rums have also become part of the lineup.
Andalusian Cask Aging: The Finish for Dos Maderas Rum
In Spain, the rum is transferred into seasoned sherry casks that impart a distinctive character. One of the best-known examples is the Dos Maderas Luxus Rum – a real highlight for connoisseurs. And in this case, luxury means: aging without compromise.
This rum spends a total of 15 years developing its character: Ten years aging in the Caribbean, followed by five more in Spain. The result is a smooth, naturally sweet rum with depth and elegance.
