Since its founding in Switzerland in 2008, the Horacio brand has pursued a clear goal: to offer an exceptional smoking experience for discerning aficionados. Behind this vision are three passionate cigar enthusiasts—Christophe Leroy, Fabien Gil, and Sylvain Toaldo—who make no compromises when it comes to quality and flavor.
From Gourmet Cuisine to Cigar Manufacturing
Sylvain oversees marketing and global distribution from Switzerland, while Christophe and Fabien are directly responsible for production in Nicaragua. Originally crafted in Costa Rica, production was later moved to Estelí, Nicaragua’s cigar capital. Their factory is just minutes from the city’s historic center.
The three French connoisseurs envisioned creating the finest cigars in Latin America. Working alongside experts from Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, they continuously refine their blends. Though the early days in Costa Rica were challenging, the positive feedback from aficionados worldwide reinforced their mission.
The Art of Horacio Cigar Making
In crafting their cigars, they combine the Entubado and Empalmado rolling techniques to ensure the perfect balance of draw resistance and strength. The selection of tobacco leaves is done directly with the growers, carefully considering factors such as fermentation, flavor profile, and burn characteristics.
Horacio is synonymous with unmatched quality, and Christophe, Fabien, and Sylvain are committed to upholding this standard. They select only the finest tobaccos and blend them to achieve perfect harmony.
Their tobacco is sourced mainly from Nicaragua, occasionally complemented by leaves from Costa Rica and Ecuador. The result: cigars with complex, full-bodied flavors. Subtle peppery notes mingle with hints of leather and coffee, while woody and sweet undertones of nuts and honey emerge throughout the smoking experience.
