Oscar Valladares – Creative Cigars from Honduras
Oscar Valladares is no ordinary cigar maker – he forges his own path. Before launching his own label, he worked in the tourism industry in Honduras. During one of his trips, he happened to meet Rocky Patel – a turning point in his life.
His entry into the cigar world was anything but conventional – first as a driver, then in various roles within the tabacalera. Today, in his own boutique factory in Danlí, he crafts small-batch cigars with passion and premium tobacco.
Early Success With The Leaf
Oscar's breakthrough came with the The Leaf line. Instead of cellophane, each cigar is wrapped in a real tobacco leaf – not only for protection but also to enhance fermentation and deepen flavor. The idea started as a small batch for his friend Jim Robinson, also known as Island Jim. The response was overwhelming – the rest is history.
Playing With Wrappers
Oscar loves to challenge convention. With the My Way line, the wrapper is simply reversed. The Raw Dog even goes without a wrapper entirely – a bold statement against traditional ideas of cigar flavor.
Design Meets Flavor
Oscar views cigars as complete works of art. Wild Hunter plays with forest-themed visuals, SuperFly celebrates retro style. And McFly? A tribute to a cult film from the '80s – simply cool.
Cigars With a Story
With 2012 by Oscar, Oscar released a post-apocalyptic cigar inspired by the Mayan date 21.12.2012. Five years later came an anniversary edition, followed by 10th Anniversary and Altar Q, which pays tribute to pre-Columbian Central America through its design.
Diversity at a Glance
His Ciseron Edition features artistic bands reminiscent of modern portraits. Heaven & Hell plays with symbolism – from angel to bat wings. Other exciting lines include the limited The Brotherhood, the mysterious Into Deep, and the affordable Plan B. If you’re just getting started, a sampler is the perfect way to begin.
