Ralph Montero, formerly master blender at Alec Bradley, set high standards with his blends. With Raíces, he realizes his vision of expressive cigars. The Tabacalera Raíces was founded by Cuban exile Romay Endemaño and his wife Maria, and over the decades has become a respected production site for top-tier brands. Today, their son Hugo runs the factory in Danlí – one of Honduras’ most important cigar-producing regions. Together with Ralph, he’s shaping the Raíces brand with a clear focus on quality and character.

From Plant to Pleasure: Raíces Cigars in Detail

Every Raíces cigar is a hand-rolled longfiller, crafted by experienced cigar rollers, the Torcedores. Only whole, carefully fermented tobacco leaves are used. Strict quality controls are in place at every stage of production – from drying and fermentation to final inspection. The result: cigars with an ideal draw, even burn, and a clean ash. Here, quality clearly takes precedence over quantity – Raíces deliberately produces in small batches to ensure each leaf is treated with the utmost care.

When it comes to processing, Raíces relies on elaborate fermentation methods to reduce bitterness and refine the aromas. After rolling, the cigars rest in climate-controlled cedarwood aging rooms, allowing them to develop complex and harmonious flavor profiles.
