CLE Cigars: The Exciting Story Behind Them
The name CLE represents the initials of its founder, Christian Luiz Eiroa, a true icon in the cigar world. Together with his father Julio, he transformed the Camacho brand from a small company into an international success.
The peak of this success came when the Oettinger Davidoff Group acquired Camacho. Rumor has it that the Eiroa family received a considerable sum for the sale. Nothing has been confirmed, but the rumored amount could have easily allowed many to retire.
But not Christian. He initially stayed with the new owners, taking on representative roles at Davidoff before returning to cigar production with CLE.
A Strong Comeback: Christian L. Eiroa and CLE
After selling the family-owned factory, the Eiroa family opened the Tabacalera El Aladino in Danlí.
The factory was named after an old cinema that also belonged to the family. CLE is the first project Christian rebuilt independently. The portfolio now also includes the Eiroa brand. Thanks to the family's strong reputation, other brands like Asylum also have their cigars produced here.

Today, CLE offers a wide variety of lines. The Corojo series uses the same Corojo wrapper that once made Camacho famous. With the Connecticut line, CLE ventures beyond Honduras for the first time.
The Prieto and Chele lines originate from Nicaragua and offer diverse flavors. While "Prieto" refers to the dark Connecticut Broadleaf, "Chele" stands for light and mild cigars.
With the 25th Anniversary cigars, Christian celebrates 25 years in the industry. Can't decide? The Sampler offers the perfect opportunity to discover four different lines in a Robusto format.
