Dean Parsons: From Real Estate to Epic Cigars

Since 2010, Dean Parsons has secured a firm place in the cigar world with his brand Epic. Originally from Labrador, Canada, Parsons worked as a police officer, hockey player, and successful real estate agent in the Turks and Caicos Islands before turning his passion for cigars into a profession. His brand Epic stands for bold blends and true craftsmanship.

From Luxury Real Estate to Premium Smokes

For many years, Parsons sold luxury real estate to discerning clients on the picturesque Turks and Caicos Islands. There, he quickly realized that quality cigars were hard to find – so he began importing and reselling his favorite cigars from the Dominican Republic.

Epic Cigars from the Dominican Republic

Through his regular visits, Parsons got to know the Dominican cigar industry in depth – including major players like Davidoff and Aurora. During one of these trips, he met Rolando Villamil – a tobacco expert with decades of experience. Their friendship led to the creation of the Turks Select label, initially sold exclusively on the islands.

The Turning Point: From Setback to New Start

The global financial crisis of 2007/2008 also affected Parsons – both as a realtor and cigar vendor. But a new job in the Dominican Republic brought his dream of creating his own cigar label within reach. In 2010, he founded Epic Cigars together with Villamil – focusing first on the U.S. market.

Epic Cigars: Quality from the Charles Fairmorn Factory

Since 2015, Epic Cigars have also been available in Germany – hand-rolled at the Charles Fairmorn factory. The Maduro Reserva combines an Arapiraca wrapper from Brazil with a binder from Cameroon and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.

The Epic Corojo features an Ecuadorian wrapper, a Dominican Olor binder, and a powerful Dominican filler. The Gold Series was specially developed for the German market and includes a Sun Grown wrapper from Ecuador.

In the La Rubia, an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and a San Andres binder from Mexico create a mild, balanced smoke. The Edicion Limitada completes the portfolio with limited special blends.

Motto With Meaning

Dean Parsons puts it simply: “All cigars are medium to full-bodied and offer intense flavors.” His credo: You deserve a cigar worthy of your achievements!
