The Casa de Alegría Factory
The roots of Rosa Nicaragua lie in the Casa de Alegría factory. It was founded in 2004 in Estelí – the heart of Nicaragua’s cigar industry – by Ralf Westerwick from Gummersbach, Germany. A geographer and former business school manager, Westerwick followed his calling abroad and, together with his partner Maritza Molina, a psychologist, built the factory. Their focus: fair trade and close collaboration with tobacco farmers to produce high-quality cigars.
